PROFILE

Michael joined Brazeau Seller in the spring of 2021 after spending several years spearheading his own corporate practice at a boutique Ottawa law firm. As a Montreal native, Michael is fluent in English and French and able to assist clients in both official languages. ​ Michael has a passion for learning about new industries and initiatives and loves helping new entrepreneurs get their business up and running. Michael’s practice focuses on corporate, tax and estate law, with an emphasis on the following types of matters:

• Advising on incorporations, amalgamations, dissolutions;
• Corporate tax restructurings, including rollovers, share transfers and freezes;
• Assisting with business asset or share transfers and acquisitions;
• Drafting and negotiating various complex commercial agreements such as: shareholder agreements, non-disclosure agreements, general security agreements, etc.;
• Drafting of wills and powers of attorney; and
• Drafting family trust agreements and succession planning.

In connection with the above, he also has extensive experience in providing legal services to dental, medical, and other professionals and their practices.

Before attending law school, Michael worked for a big financial institution as a Senior Commercial Officer assisting clients with all their commercial needs. Michael attended and graduated from the University of Leeds in the UK with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB). During his time of study, he was awarded the Merit Scholarship for outstanding academic performance and graduated with honours before deciding to move back to Canada to be closer to family.

Michael is an active member of the Meritas Emerging Leaders Group.

When he is not enthusiastically assisting clients, Michael loves to spend time with his wife and dog, visit his family in Montreal, play soccer at a competitive level, and travel the world to soak in all the art history, culture, and architecture he can.
